Sentry drones
« on: November 19, 2009, 02:54:23 PM »
Hi all,

Just got here last week and am currently going trough documentation and forums to gather some info regarding bot options and so.

I've seen this question written on forums several times so far, but no definite answer, so I'll give it a try. Anybody has H-Bot working with sentry drones? How does it works? I was thinking Ishtar with T2 sentries, but nobody here mentioned anything like that so far.

I guess it should be doable if bot could be configured to approach drones and not to wait for them to return to ship.

Any thoughts, experiences?

I imagine you could set the navigation option to have the ship sit still, then hope that then release the sentries 20-30 seconds later, hopefully they wouldn't get too far away from the ship, there is no "chase down drones" option....its designed to have the drones come to you, so heavies might be your best bet

try it out then :), though i don't think it would work very well as you would be helpless against orbiting frigs/cruisers. You could try fitting a web but I don't know if that would be enough no matter how many omni links you fit- not to mention if you use long range sentries you will have awful tracking. Most people that use droneboats just stick to heavies I think, but try it out and see what you find :)

Well that's the bane of using sentries, with a macro or without.  I imagine heavies are a much better option, from my understanding sentries are only slightly better against large targets and have an increased range, most of the time and especially when using a macro you should be using heavy drones.

Well...

It seems against some rats there are some problems with tracking, but that could also be resolved if, for an instance, you could select overview with drones and then just orbit them at 7.5km.

Their main advantage is that with rigs they can do a lot of DPS (Gardes II can dish out 580 DPS on 50km radius). Problem is with managing them.

If H-Bot would be able to approac them, it would be perfect ;)
